Featured on Handsome Things!

Hanneke from Handsome Things asked if she could do a feature on some of my photos from previous shoots that didn't make the final edit for some
or other reason. These are some extras from In the Hall with the Candlestick and this is what Hanneke had to say:

What happens to the photos that aren’t chosen to be featured in a fashion spread? Well they are left to “gather pixel dust” (as Lauren Fowler would say) in a desktop folder somewhere. We’ve decided to get out our virtual feather duster and dust off these beautiful pics that weren’t selected for Alix-Rose Cowie’s beautiful fashion shoot In the hall with the candle stick.
While I’m dusting, Alix-Rose tells us a bit more about herself, her photography, her inspirations and aspirations.

The Pessimiss

Kate Whitney Chauncey, known as The Pessimiss to followers of her fashion blog, was invited to do a guest post on Amber Jones' Thunder in Our Hearts
She asked me to take a casual 'press pic' of her for the feature so on Sunday afternoon I visited at her beautiful apartment and we took some pics of her in her bedroom, surrounded by her favourite things, and around the neighbourhood. These are my faves.

See Kate's feature on Thunder in Our Hearts, here.

Amber Jones also asked me to send her my 15 favourite things for a post on her blog, you can see them here, if you'd like.

A trip.

Something a bit different for me. I'm usually more confident taking a picture I've thought about for a little while so - although I know I should - I don't take my camera wherever I go. But I did have it with me today and I like these, so here they are. Went home for the weekend and amongst other things my dad and I made a stop at the tiny aquarium on the East London beach front.  The poor turtle was an amputee. The last pic was taken from the plane descending into Cape Town.

In the hall with the candlestick...

Last weekend Kate and I did this shoot as a lookbook for Kate Chauncey's vintage clothing label The Rah-Rah Room
We used the characters from the board game Cluedo as inspiration - Mrs Peacock, Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Rev Green, Professor Plum and Mrs White. You'll find all the credits on the awesome cover page designed by Michael Tymbios.

Hope you like.

Lee-Anne

Another of the 'unseens'. This one didn't quite make the cut for Fancy Pants. Lee-Anne even makes a photo look good in between poses!
Styling by Kate Desmarais.

The unseen

I'm putting a website together so have been going through all of my old photos.
Every now and then I stumble across some that I've never put up for whatever reason.
This is from the West Coast Darling shoot I did for the finals of the ELLE New Talent competition.
Thought it might be too 'birthy' for Elle but I like it. Expect more!

Vamp Clothing

Nicci from Vamp Clothing and I have been wanting to shoot together for so long now.
The day finally arrived last Saturday when we shot some of the vintage dresses from their range.
As you can see we were up against a raging wind - which goes with living and shooting in Cape Town -
but I think we used it to our advantage.

Styling - Nicci St Bruce
Model - The wonderful Jade Ashton Scully from 3D Model Agency

All clothes vintage Vamp.

Thanks girls! Gotta do it again some time soon.

Hope you like. OH AND CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO SEE THEM BIGGER!

Kate. Cats. Cableknit.

Kate was asked to share her 'Favourite Item Now' with the Mr Price fashion blog - In the Fashion Loop so she asked me to take some pics. We quickly took some snaps during her lunch break.
I think she looks beautiful.
